In verses 12-13, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling—not to earn it, but to apply it—knowing God works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing. Grumbling involves secret muttering and complaining under the breath, seen in examples from John 7 and Acts 6. Disputing refers to negative reasonings that justify wrongdoing or manipulate outcomes, as in Romans 1 where people suppress truth about God through futile reasonings.

We are to be hospitable without grumbling (1 Peter 4:9), ministering spiritual gifts through love, the more excellent way (1 Corinthians 12-13). This leads to becoming blameless (innocent, guiltless) and harmless (unmixed, without ulterior motives) as children of God—born ones (technia) from incorruptible seed—without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom we shine as luminaries (Philippians 2:15).

As born ones of God, we imitate Him by walking in love, purifying ourselves, and practicing righteousness. We have victory over habitual sin through the indwelling seed and reckoning ourselves dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6). The world may be indifferent, but we hold fast the word of life so Paul (and we) may rejoice in the day of Christ, having not run in vain. Drunkenness refers to intoxication by alcohol or similar substances that impair judgment, reasoning, and decision-making. Scripture distinguishes between moderate use (e.g., 1 Timothy 5:23, “use a little wine for your stomach”) and excess (“not given to much wine” in 1 Timothy 3:8 and Titus 2:3). Ephesians 5:18 contrasts being drunk with wine (excess leading to dissipation) with being filled by the Spirit. Romans 14 stresses not causing a brother to stumble regarding personal convictions on food or drink, prioritizing love. 1 Corinthians 5 calls for church discipline of a professing believer who is a drunkard, distinguishing this from judging outsiders.

Revelings (carousings) describe wild, out-of-control partying that often involves excess alcohol, disregard for property, or riotous behavior—appearing in Romans 13:13 and 1 Peter 4:3 alongside other sins of the old life. Believers are called to cast off works of darkness and put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

The phrase “and such like things” allows for similar sins not explicitly listed (e.g., covetousness equated with idolatry in Colossians 3:5; also anger, wrath, blasphemy, extortion). The list in Galatians is not exhaustive but illustrative to contrast the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.). Its purpose is to show the nature of fleshly living versus Spirit-led living, avoiding checklist legalism. Paul encourages setting the mind on things above, putting off the old man, and putting on the new—focusing on positive growth in Christ rather than mere abstinence.

This equips believers to identify fleshly temptations, maintain victory through positional truth in Christ (as covered in Romans 6-7), and discern differences from satanic attacks for future study. The goal is walking by the Spirit, producing fruit, with no law against such things. Those practicing works of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Lamb, appearing as slain with seven horns and seven eyes (the seven Spirits of God), takes the scroll from the Father’s right hand. The four living creatures and 24 elders fall down in worship with harps and bowls of incense (prayers of the tribulation saints). They sing a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe, tongue, people, and nation; and have made us kings and priests to our God, and we shall reign on the earth.”

Myriads of angels and every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and in the sea proclaim blessing, honor, glory, and strength to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever. The elders and living creatures worship Him who lives forever.

The church, as a holy royal priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices, reigns with Christ from the New Jerusalem. Pre-church saints await resurrection at Christ’s return to establish His kingdom. Those under the earth include unsaved humans and certain fallen angels imprisoned in Sheol/Hades awaiting judgment.

Before the Tribulation begins, key events must occur: the church is raptured; a worldwide religious system (Babylon the Harlot) rises; ten kings emerge; the man of lawlessness gains authority; and Israel is regathered to the land in belief as God deals with the nation again (per Deuteronomy 30, Romans 11). Daniel 2 and 7 outline four Gentile kingdoms culminating in a revived Roman empire of ten kings mixed with common clay (the seed of men). Christ destroys these kingdoms at His return.

The Tribulation starts in Revelation 6:1 when the Lamb opens the first seal. One of the living creatures says, “Come and see.” A white horse appears; its rider has a bow (no arrows) and receives a victor’s crown. He goes out conquering and to conquer, bringing false worldwide peace through a seven-year covenant with Israel (Daniel 9:27). This peace lacks strength and precedes sudden destruction as the second seal removes peace from the earth.

We are to Have the Same Frame of Mind (Philippians 2:1–4)

· Together souled—having the same emotional attachments (Philippians 2:2).

o Maintaining the same frame of mind together—same purpose, same goal.

· Nothing is to be done out for selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3).

o Selfish ambition is a work of the flesh (Galatians 5:20).

o Those who are selfish will lie against the truth (James 3:14).

o Where selfish ambition is, confusion and every fallow thing abides (James 3:16).

· Esteeming others as better than ourselves as we maintain a humble mind (Philippians 2:3).

o Esteem comes from the root concept of leading or guiding.

o When we esteem others, we are giving regard to them.

o When we admonish a fellow saint, we are not to esteem them as an enemy (2 Thessalonians 3:15).

o Esteeming it just to always stir each other up to continue in the faith (2 Peter 1:13).

· Scoping out the things of others, not our own (Philippians 2:4).

o Paying close attention.

o The one who is Spiritual is to scope himself out while helping another caught in a trespass (Galatians 6:1).

o Scope out those who follow Paul’s example and follow them (Philippians 3:17).

o Scope out those who cause divisions among the saints and avoid them (Romans 16:17).

o We are not scoping out the things seen, but the things not seen (2 Corinthians 4:18).

Following Christ’s Examine Concerning the Frame of Mind (Philippians 2:5-11)

· Our frame of mind is to be the same frame of mind in Christ (Philippians 2:5).

o The framing of the mind relates to your opinion of yourself, and your boundaries placed on who you are.

· Christ Existed in the Form of God but did not consider equality with God to be something He seized (Philippians 2:6).

o Christ’s outward manifestation was of Deity.

o He is God in the flesh (John 1:1, 14).

o God Shares His Glory with No One (Isaiah 42:8; 48:11).

o Christ did not seize this glory because it belonged to Him.

· God the Son made Himself of no reputation (Philippians 2:7).

o He emptied Himself of His outward form of Deity.

· God the Son then received the form of a servant (Philippians 2:7).

o He came to be in the likeness of a man.

o He was born of a virgin (Luke 1:35).

o He was without sin (Hebrews 4:15).

· God the Son masked Himself to appear as a man (Philippians 2:8).

o He humbled Himself.

o He did not consider who He was to be of such value that taking on the form of a servant was unworthy of who He is.

o He was not high minded about Himself.

o He became like His brethren so that He could serve as a faithful High Priest (Hebrews 2:17).

o As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man had to be lifted up (John 3:14).

· God the Father responded to Christ’s frame of mind by highly exalting Him (Philippians 2:9).

o As Christ did, we are to also do. Let God lift us into position of authority and glory (James 4:10).

o We humble ourselves; God lifts us up (1 Peter 5:6).

o This type of attitude eliminates selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3).

· Every knee will bow at the name God gave the Jesus (Philippians 2:10).

o This name has not yet been proclaimed.

Working Out Our Salvation (Philippians 2:12–14)

· We are to work out our salvation through obedience (Philippians 2:12).

o Not an attempt to obtain or maintain salvation through works.

o Salvation is not given based upon a person’s desires or abilities (Romans 9:16).

o Salvation is based upon God’s mercy (Titus 3:4–5).

o We are working out salvation with fear and trembling.

· God enables us to do His will (Philippians 2:13).

o Present Our Bodies a Living Sacrifice (Romans 12:1).

o Christ purchased us with His blood (Acts 20:28).

o This is our reasonable religious service.

o Be Transformed by Your Renewed Mind So that You Can Know What is Approvable to God (Romans 12:2).

o Use Our Spiritual Gift for the edification of the Church (1 Corinthians 12:18).

o Give Ourselves to The Lord and to Other Believers (2 Corinthians 8:5).

Heresy involves willfully teaching or promoting a doctrine that contradicts Scripture—not an honest mistake, but a deliberate departure to create factions. In Acts, the term describes Jewish sects like the Sadducees (who denied resurrection, angels, and spirits) and Pharisees (known for strict law observance plus traditions). Both groups are called “sects” or heresies. Early Christians were also labeled a heresy by unbelieving Jews for affirming Jesus as Messiah. In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul links schisms and heresies, noting they reveal who is approved. 2 Peter 2 warns of false teachers bringing in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord. Titus 3 instructs rejecting a heretic after first and second admonition, as they are subverted and self-condemned. Heresy stems from willful rejection of clear biblical truth rather than error.

Envy (Greek: phthonos) differs from jealousy: it resents others having what one lacks, often leading to spite or harm. Pilate recognized envy as the motive behind the Jewish leaders delivering Jesus for crucifixion (Matthew 27). It appears in lists of fleshly works and warnings against it for believers (Galatians 5:26, 1 Peter 2:1). In 1 Timothy 6, envy arises from false teaching and covetous motives.

Murder is highlighted as senseless killing, distinct from self-defense or manslaughter. It appears in Romans 1:29 among vices of the reprobate mind. James 4 links murder to unfulfilled lusts and carnal warfare; James 5 condemns rich oppressors who murder the righteous. Examples include Barabbas, a murderer released instead of Jesus.

The teaching emphasizes these as works of the flesh to avoid, contrasting with the fruit of the Spirit, and notes the list in Galatians 5 is nearly complete.

The teaching covers “wrath” (thumos), a burning, intense anger distinct from but related to orge (outward anger). Examples include the angry mob in the Nazareth synagogue attempting to throw Jesus off a cliff (Luke 4) and Herod’s furious slaughter of the innocents (Matthew 2). Believers are instructed to put away such bitterness, wrath, anger, and malice (Ephesians 4; Colossians 3), setting their minds on things above and putting on the new man.

Next, “strife” or selfish ambition (eritheia) involves manipulative, self-seeking behavior, often seen in politics or church divisions. Examples from 2 Corinthians 12, James 3 (earthly, demonic wisdom producing confusion and evil works), Romans 2, and Philippians 1-2 highlight its carnal nature. Paul contrasts this with the mind of Christ, who humbled Himself for others’ benefit, urging believers to esteem others better than themselves rather than seeking personal gain.

Finally, “seditions” or divisions (dichostasia) refers to causing splits contrary to Christian unity. Jesus uses the term for family divisions due to His message (Matthew 10), while Paul addresses carnal divisions in the Corinthian church (1 Corinthians 3) and instructs marking and avoiding those who cause offenses contrary to sound doctrine (Romans 16).

The message emphasizes that Christians can still manifest these works of the flesh but are called to victory through the Spirit, renewing the mind on their position in Christ. The session prepares for the final terms like heresies in the next teaching.

It is graciously granted to believe in Christ and to suffer for His sake. Suffering for righteousness is an aspect of grace, an external impression we endure for doing right, not wrong. Examples include ceasing from sin, which involves fleshly struggle yet yields victory. Christ suffered to enter glory, modeling patient endurance. We are called to suffer for good, committing our souls to God while doing what is beneficial and proper.

Faith and the ability to walk rightly come from God as grace, not self-effort. We yield to the Holy Spirit’s desires, reckoning ourselves dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6), walking by the Spirit so as not to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. This produces fellowship with God, other saints, and victory over the sin nature through ongoing cleansing as we walk in the light.

In Philippians 2, Paul urges unity through the same frame of mind: encouragement in Christ, comfort of love, fellowship of the Spirit, affection, and compassion. We must be like-minded, humble, and focused on eternal realities rather than worldly things, living out who we are in Christ amid daily life.

The gospel message has inherent power to save (Romans 1:16). Satan blinds minds to prevent belief (2 Corinthians 4:4), but the Holy Spirit convicts the world of one sin: unbelief in Christ (John 16:8-9). God causes the light of the knowledge of His glory to shine in our hearts (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Key changes at salvation include:

• Washing of regeneration that cleanses from sins and trespasses (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; John 13:10).

• Being born again (born from above) through incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23; John 3:3).

• God’s seed remains in the believer, enabling victory over habitual sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 1:9).

• Legitimate children of God, marked for sonship—not adoption (Ephesians 1:5).

• Salvation in the spirit, uniting us with the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17). The spirit is our rational center, allowing spiritual discernment (1 Corinthians 2:11-15).

• Placed into the body of Christ as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

• Christ indwells us (Galatians 2:20; Colossians 1:27).

• The Holy Spirit indwells us (John 14:16-17).

• Spiritual gifts and direct relationship with God as priests.

Salvation is rational, not primarily emotional. The soul is not yet fully saved (1 Peter 1:9), so experiences vary. True change manifests as understanding Scripture and producing fruit over time.

The Things Graciously Given to Us (Philippians 1:29-30)

· Our suffering for Christ is an aspect of grace (Philippians 1:29).

o It is a gracious thing for us to suffer on behalf of righteousness (1 Peter 2:19).

o We have been given the Holy Spirit so that we may know the things graciously given to us (1 Corinthians 2:12).

o The concept of suffering is to receive an impression from without.

o It is used in both a positive and negative manner.

o It is suffering because of the strong desires we have.

o When we cease from sin, we will suffer due to the passions we have in doing sin (1 Peter 4:1).

o The suffering of our Lord to enter into His glory (Luke 24:26).

o We are called to suffer doing good (1 Peter 2:20–21).

o We are to suffer in the same manner Christ suffered (1 Peter 2:23).

o If we suffer, let it be for doing good, not bad (1 Peter 4:15, 19).

· The Faith to believe the Gospel for Salvation was given to use by grace (Philippians 1:29).

o We do not produce faith to believe the Gospel.

o God gives us the faith to believe.

o Salvation is entirely God’s work (Philippians 1:6).

We are to Have the Same Frame of Mind (Philippians 2:1–4)

· Since there is some encouragement in Christ (Philippians 2:1)

o The encouragement we receive from the Scriptures regarding our hope (Romans 15:4).

o Those who have the Spiritual give of encouragement for the edification of the saints (Romans 12:8).

· Since there is some comfort in Christ (Philippians 2:1).

o Conform conveys the meaning of gentle cheering, consolation, or comforting the heart.

o This type of comfort flows from the love for other saints.

· Since there is some fellowship in Spirit in Christ (Philippians 2:1).

o Fellowship is sharing in common.

o Fellowship can be sharing physical goods (Romans 15:26).

o We have fellowship in the body and blood of Christ (1 Corinthians 10:16).

o We have fellowship from the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

o Walking by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16).

o Taking each step by the Spirit (Galatians 5:25).

o Our fellowship in the gospel (Philippians 1:5).

o When we fellowship with God, we love the brethren while having victory over our sin nature (1 John 1:6–7).

· Since there is some affection and compassion in Christ (Philippians 2:1).

o Affection comes from the concept of feeling from the bowels or heart. It is a tender affection towards others.

o The affection we have for the saints (2 Corinthians 7:15).

o As the elect of God, we are to cloth ourselves with affection for the saints (Colossians 3:12).

o When a man shuts up his affections for the saints, he is not loving God (1 John 3:17).

o Compassion means to have pity on someone.

o Compassion conveys a deep concern over another’s misfortune.

o By the compassions of God we are able to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1).

o God show us compassion and comfort, even in our tribulations (2 Corinthians 1:3).

o As the elect of God, we are to be clothed wit compassion for the saints (Colossians 3:12).

· We are to have the same frame of mind, having the same love, together souled, and of one frame of mind (Philippians 2:2).

o The frame of mind relates to the boundaries we place around our minds.

o These boundaries are to align with God’s word.

o Our frame of mind impacts our actions (Romans 14:6).

o We are not to set our minds on high things, but associate with the humble (Romans 12:16).

§ Our mind is to be framed on the things in heaven (Colossians 3:1–3).

§ False teachers seek to set the mind on earthly things (Philippians 3:19).

o When we frame our mind on the flesh, we produce the works of the flesh (Romans 8:5).

o When our mind is framed on the things of the Spirit, we walk by the Spirit (Romans 8:5).

o Together souled–having the same emotional attachments.

o Maintaining the same frame of mind together—same purpose, same goal.

· Nothing is to be done out for selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3).

o Selfish ambition is a work of the flesh (Galatians 5:20).

o Those who are selfish will lie against the truth (James 3:14).

o Where selfish ambition is, confusion and every fallow thing abides (James 3:16).

· Esteeming others as better than ourselves as we maintain a humble mind (Philippians 2:3).

o Esteem comes from the root concept of leading, or guiding.

o When we esteem others, we are giving regard to them.

o When we admonish a fellow saint, we are not to esteem them as an enemy (2 Thessalonians 3:15).

o Esteeming it just to always stir each other up to continue in the faith (2 Peter 1:13).

· Scoping out the things of others, not our own (Philippians 2:4).

o Paying close attention.

o The one who is Spiritual is to scope himself out while helping another caught in a trespass (Galatians 6:1).

o Scope out those who follow Paul’s example and follow them (Philippians 3:17).

o Scope out those who cause divisions among the saints and avoid them (Romans 16:17).

o We are not scoping out the things seen, but the things not seen (2 Corinthians 4:18).

The Method by Which God Brings Salvation

• Salvation is by Faith through Grace (Ephesians 2:8).

• Grace is God’s attitude whereby He gives a benefit without consideration of merit.

• Not related to works (Romans 11:6).

• Does not take merit into consideration (Luke 2:40).

• Faith is taking God at His Word and is the bases for hope in a promise (Hebrews 11:1).

• God provides the faith (Philippians 1:29; Ephesians 2:8).

• God seeks us today (Romans 3:11).

• When we are called to salvation, this calling is an expression of God choosing us (2 Peter 1:10).

The Gospel for Salvation

• Christ died on behalf of our sins and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).

• This gospel has an inherent ability to save (Romans 1:16).

• The message of the kingdom of the heavens could be snatched from the mind (Matthew 13:29 ).

We see the throne and the sea of glass like crystal before it. There is no need for the church saints to be purified before entering their priestly service, as the 24 elders represent the church in their cycle. They are already purified and clean, so the sea of glass indicates no further propitiation or cleansing is required.

In the heavenly temple, Christ is the place of propitiation. Hebrews 9:11 describes Christ as High Priest of the good things to come, entering the most holy place once for all with His own blood, obtaining eternal redemption. His blood cleanses the conscience from dead works to serve the living God, making Him the mediator of the new covenant.

Back in Revelation 4, this is the church in priestly service with Christ on the throne and the 24 elders representing the church. The four cherubim with four faces and six wings have a ministry relating to the priesthood of the saints. Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, the 24 elders fall down, worship, and cast their crowns before the throne. The cherubim do not rest day and night proclaiming God’s holiness, and in response the elders lay down their victor’s wreaths, indicating they have completed their priestly service cycle. The next group comes in, and this repeats.

The covenant is contained in Christ, who is the place of propitiation and satisfaction (Romans 3:25). In Revelation 4:7, the four living creatures are described: the first like a lion, the second like a calf, the third with a face like a man, and the fourth like a flying eagle. These differ from the earthly temple cherubim and resemble those in Ezekiel and Isaiah. They stand around the throne, suggesting a U- or H-shaped arrangement with the central throne, 24 surrounding thrones, and cherubim at the corners. Christ sits on the Father’s throne, so the throne has multiple seats.

Their six wings, eyes all around, and ceaseless proclamation of “Holy, holy, holy” indicate the three persons of the Godhead—God is holy, set apart, with three distinct persons sharing one essence. This is not vain repetition. The seraphim also proclaim this. Holiness means separation unto God.

In response, the 24 elders cast their crowns (stephanos, victor’s wreaths) before the throne, giving God credit for creation and all things existing by His will. This is true worship. The Levitical priesthood order (Luke 1, Zacharias) shadows this heavenly cycling of priestly service.

In Revelation 5:1, a scroll written inside and out, sealed with seven seals, is in the right hand of Him on the throne (now God the Father, shifting from Christ in chapter 4). No one in heaven, on earth, or under the earth is worthy to open the scroll or even glance at it. John weeps greatly. One of the elders (representing the resurrected church) tells him to stop weeping: the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and loose its seals.

The strong angel proclaiming this may be a manifestation of the second person of the Godhead. The elders, as the church like Christ, have superior knowledge. Spirit beings, even fallen ones in Hades, lacked discernment. The Lamb, as though slain (a sacrificial term), appears in the midst of the throne, living creatures, and elders, with seven horns and seven eyes (the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth). Horns symbolize authority and power.

The Lamb takes the scroll from the Father’s right hand. The four living creatures and 24 elders fall down before the Lamb with harps and golden bowls full of incense (the prayers/worship of the tribulation saints). The elders sing a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for You were slain and redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.” (Note: textual evidence strongly supports “us,” identifying the elders with the redeemed church, supporting pre-tribulation rapture timing before the seals.)

The church serves as priests to the tribulation saints. Translations vary; some alter pronouns, potentially shifting theology. Base understanding on original languages and good interlinears.

The Holy Spirit’s seven spirits (seven lamps of fire before the throne) are linked to Zechariah 4 and Revelation 5:6 (seven eyes of the Lamb), demonstrating the Spirit’s deity as part of the Godhead. From the throne proceed lightnings, thunders, and voices, evoking fear to convict and bring salvation to Tribulation saints (distinct from the church; “saint” means set apart, context determines). Lightning symbolizes judgment; the Spirit cleanses and prepares Tribulation saints for ministry (echoing Isaiah 6’s coal of fire purifying for service), differing from the church’s unique indwelling, sealing, regeneration, immersion into Christ’s body, anointing, and firstfruits ministries (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 14; Romans 8:23; 1 John 2:20-27). Post-rapture, the church needs no further cleansing.

A sea of glass like crystal before the throne signifies completed cleansing (contrasting the earthly temple’s laver/Molten Sea in Exodus 30 and 1 Kings 7). Christ is the propitiation (satisfaction of God’s righteousness, not wrath; 1 John 2:2; Romans 3:25) for the whole world, enabling heavenly access. Four living creatures (cherubim, full of eyes, differing from earthly tabernacle shadows in Exodus 25 with four faces and six wings) worship, prompting the 24 elders to cast crowns before the eternal One on the throne (Revelation 4:9-10). This reflects the church’s priestly service in ordered cycles, with higher-ranking cherubim ministry tied to the church’s priesthood (contrasted with Lucifer’s class in Ezekiel 28). The earthly temple shadows the heavenly reality; post-rapture, the resurrected church is blameless and like Christ (1 John 3:2; 1 Thessalonians 3:13), with bad works burned at the Bema Seat but the person unharmed (1 Corinthians 3).

Paul notes that his imprisonment advanced the gospel, becoming evident to the palace guard and emboldening brethren to speak boldly. Some preach Christ from envy/strife or selfish ambition to add affliction, others from goodwill and love, yet Paul rejoices that Christ is preached regardless. He expects deliverance through the saints’ supplications and the Spirit’s supply, living boldly so Christ is magnified whether in life or death. For him, to live is Christ and to die is gain; he remains confident in continuing for their progress and joy in the faith.

The core exhortation is to let conduct (politics/citizenship, from the Greek politeuomai) be worthy of the gospel of Christ—standing fast in one spirit and one soul, striving together for the faith without being terrified by adversaries. This reflects heavenly citizenship (Philippians 3:20), as believers are part of the new creation in Christ (not individually new creatures, but transferred from Adam into Christ’s righteous headship). The soul (emotional part) requires caution against fleshly desires warring against it, while the spirit (rational center) enables defense. Paul urges unity, support in labor for the gospel, and fearlessness, as adversaries’ opposition proves their ruin and believers’ salvation. The true gospel centers on Christ dying for sins, burial, and resurrection on the third day according to Scripture—proclaimed factually, not emotionally.
