Accurately Dividing the Word of God

All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable facing teaching, facing reproof, facing correction, facing child training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16

• Teaching – Information that is to be learned, but not practiced

  • Written for our admonition, 1 Corinthians 10:11

  • For teaching – through patience and the comfort of the Scriptures we should have hope, Romans 15:4

  • There is healthy and proper teaching, Titus 2:1; 1 Timothy 4:6

  • Unhealthy teaching tosses one around like the wind, Ephesians 4:14

    • This is the teachings of men, Colossians 2:22

    • Touch not, taste not, handle not, Colossians 2:21

    • Teachings of demons, 1 Timothy 4:1

• Doctrine – Information that is be to learned and practiced

  • Sermon on the Mount was Doctrine for the Jews, Matthew 7:28; 22:23

  • There is false doctrine, Matthew 16:12; Romans 16:17

    • Strange doctrines, Hebrews 13:9

    • Doctrine of Balaam – wealth and power at the expense of God’s people, Revelation 2:14

    • Doctrine of the Nicolaitans – separation of clergy, Revelation 2:15

    • Doctrine of Jezebel – spiritual adultery, Revelation, 2:24

• Doctrine to be obeyed, Romans 6:17

• Doctrine enables you to maintain healthy teaching, Titus 1:9

  • The doctrine of The Christ, 2 John 1:9

  • Rightly Dividing the Word, 2 Timothy 2:15
