Eschatology Lesson 12

The Rapture, the Wrath of God, and the Judgment Seat of Christ

In this in-depth continuation of our Eschatology series, Pastor Luther Walker explores the biblical truth concerning the Rapture of the Church, the Wrath of God, and the Judgment Seat of Christ (Bema Seat). Drawing from Revelation, 1 Thessalonians, 1 Corinthians, and other key passages, this study examines the sequence of end-time events, the mystery revealed to the Church, and the believer’s future hope and reward.

Discover what Scripture teaches about:

  • The Church’s deliverance from God’s wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:9)

  • The Rapture—a mystery now revealed (1 Corinthians 15:51–52)

  • The twinkling of an eye transformation of believers

  • The role of the Holy Spirit as the restrainer in 2 Thessalonians 2:7

  • The difference between the Church and Tribulation saints

  • The Bema Seat of Christ and the testing of believers’ works (1 Corinthians 3:10–15)

  • The five crowns (victor’s wreaths) promised to believers:

    • The Incorruptible Crown for self-control

    • The Crown of Life for enduring temptation

    • The Crown of Rejoicing for soul-winning

    • The Crown of Glory for faithful pastors

    • The Crown of Righteousness for those who love His appearing

  • The presentation of the Church before the Father—pure, blameless, and glorified

  • The 24 elders in Revelation as representatives of the glorified Church

This teaching emphasizes the hope, comfort, and responsibility of every believer awaiting Christ’s return. The Rapture will not bring chaos to the world but will mark the moment when true believers are gathered to the Lord, transformed into His likeness, and rewarded for faithful service.
