Angelology—The Origin of Spirit Beings

Spirit beings were created by God the Son (Colossians 1:16) before the universe (Job 38:4-7) and all at the same time (Psalms 148:2-5). Among them, cherubim are the highest-ranking created beings, with four different types distinguished by their faces and wings (Exodus 37:9; Ezekiel 1:5-14; Revelation 4:6-8). They are living beings with calf-like feet of brass (Ezekiel 1:7), human hands under their wings (Ezekiel 1:8), and faces resembling a man, lion, ox, and eagle (Ezekiel 1:10). Their wings stretch upward, covering their bodies (Ezekiel 1:11), and their appearance is bright like burning coal (Ezekiel 1:13). They move in all directions like lightning (Ezekiel 1:14) and have eyes on all sides (Revelation 4:6-8). Cherubim are higher in rank than angels (Jude 9), capable of speech (Revelation 4:8), and serve in governmental roles (Ezekiel 28:14) as well as guards (Genesis 3:24). They surround God's glory, departing from the temple and city (Ezekiel 10:1-22; 11:22-23), are involved in worship (Revelation 4:8), and give glory, honor, and thanks to the Son, affirming His deity (Revelation 4:9).
