Revelation: Laodicean Church, Rapture & Path to Tribulation

Revelation

Pastor Luther Walker concludes discussion of Revelation chapters 2–3, covering the seven periods of the Church on earth and the current Laodicean assembly. This lukewarm period uses Christ’s name but prioritizes wealth, numbers, and symbols over sound doctrine and living in Christ. Jesus rebukes them as wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, and stands knocking at the door of the church—not individual hearts—indicating unbelievers have infiltrated it. True overcomers, those who believe Christ died for their sins and was raised on the third day, receive rich promises: eating from the tree of life, protection from the second death, hidden manna, white garments, authority over nations, and having God’s name, the New Jerusalem, and Christ’s new name written upon them.

Between Revelation 3:22 and chapter 4 lies the next prophetic event: the Rapture of the Church. No prophecy is being fulfilled today; the Rapture must occur first, removing the Church (grace believers) before the Tribulation. The timing is unknown and in the Father’s hands; believers live by faith. The “falling away” (apostasia) in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 refers to the standing away/removal of the Church, enabling the revelation of the man of lawlessness (son of perdition).

Detailed Rapture events from 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 include: the Lord descending with a shout, the voice of the archangel Michael commanding demons aside (as Satan rules the authority of the air), the trump of God calling saints, the dead in Christ rising first, and living believers caught up together in clouds of saints to meet the Lord in the air—in the twinkling of an eye. This generation will not taste death but receive resurrected bodies.

The Rapture ends the dispensation of grace. Afterward, a short season (roughly three months) precedes the Tribulation, during which the ten kings (without kingdoms yet) rise, and Mystery Babylon the harlot—an ecumenical religious system blending world religions—rises to support the beast. This system draws from unsaved elements of Thyatira (Catholic), Sardis (Reformed), and Laodicean assemblies, forming Christendom (Satan’s mimic of Christianity) rather than true Christianity. Satan sows tares (sons of the evil one) among wheat; they mimic righteousness but lack genuine faith based on 1 Corinthians 15:1–4.

The man of lawlessness cannot rise until the Church is removed. He confirms a covenant with many for one week (seven years), breaks it midway, and brings desolation. Old Testament details (Daniel 9) confirm this applies to the future Tribulation, not 70 AD. Saints in the Tribulation are saved under a different message and are not added to the Church. The Rapture allows these end-time events to unfold.
