Matthew 1 Genealogy of Christ Verse by Verse
Matthew 1 traces the royal line from Judah through Perez, Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, and Boaz to Ruth. Judah pledges himself for Benjamin and receives the scepter. Perez opens the path to David and Bethlehem. Nahshon leads Judah in the wilderness. Salmon marries Rahab. Boaz acts as kinsman-redeemer and raises up the name of the dead. Ruth the Moabitess is brought into the line that leads to the Messiah.
