Matthew
Voice in the Wilderness: Jesus Immersed and Tempted | Matthew 2–4
Joseph returns from Egypt after Herod’s death, fears Archelaus, and settles in Nazareth, fulfilling the Branch prophecies. John the Baptizer heralds a change of mind concerning the Kingdom of the heavens, rebukes the Pharisees and Sadducees, and points to One who immerses with the Holy Spirit and fire. Jesus is immersed to fulfill all righteousness, anointed by the Spirit, and declared the beloved Son. In the wilderness He refuses independence, testing the Father, and worship of Satan, answering each temptation from Deuteronomy.
Jesus—the LORD delivers—will save His people from their sins. Joseph takes Mary as his wife and does not know her until after the birth. The Magi follow the star to the house of the child and present gifts that provide for Egypt. Joseph flees by night in fulfillment of Hosea. Herod’s massacre fulfills Jeremiah.

And let us consider one another in stirring up love and proper works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves, just as is the habit of some, but encouraging, and so much more as we see the day approaching (Hebrews chapter 10:24–25).
In a world that often pulls us toward isolation, coming together face-to-face provides encouragement, clarity, and spiritual strength. At Word of Grace Studies, we gather because we value the opportunity to build up one another in truth, to stir up love and proper works, and to grow together in the faith. Whether you can come and fellowship with us or at a local assembly in your area, do not forsake the assembling of the saints, your presence matters—for your benefit and for the encouragement of others.
You’re always welcome to join us and experience the encouragement and connection that come from gathering together.
