Galatians
Walking by the Spirit
Our Liberty is Not for an Opportunity for the Flesh (Galatians 5:13–15).
Our Liberty is not to be used as an opportunity for the flesh (Galatians 5:13).
One of the works of the flesh relates to religious observance—sorcery (Galatians 5:20).
Our liberty in Christ is not to be used to satisfy the flesh (1 Peter 2:16).
We will suffer because we do not follow the way of the flesh (1 Peter 2:15).
Fleshly desires wars against the soul (1 Peter 2:11).
Grace is not an opportunity for the flesh (Romans 6:1–2).
Those who turn the grace of God into licentiousness (Jude 4).
They lure through the flesh (2 Peter 2:18).
We have spent enough of our life walking in lewdness (1 Peter 4:1–3).
Licentiousness (lewdness) is a work of the flesh (Galatians 5:19).
We are to walk properly as in the day, not in licentiousness (Romans 13:13).
We are to use our liberty to love other saints (Galatians 5:13).
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).
We are governed by the mature law of liberty (James 1:25).
Living out righteousness because we know and do the desirous will of God (1 Peter 4:2).
The desires of this world pass away, but the will of God abides (1 John 2:17).
When it comes to the Mosaic Law, it is even summed up in loving your neighbor (Galatians 5:14).
The Mosaic Law was summed up in two commandments by Jesus (Matthew 22:37–40).
Our Love for other saints fulfills any aspect of law (John 13:34).
If we bit and devour each other, we will consume one another (Galatians 5:15).
Walking by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16–18).
When we govern our lives by the Spirit, we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).
The desires from flesh and the Spirit are contrary to one another (Galatians 5:17).
When we are led by the Spirit, we are not under law (Galatians 5:18).
The law gives the sin nature strength (1 Corinthians 15:56).
The struggle within us when we seek to work out righteousness by law (Romans 7:15–17).
7:15 For that which I (old nature) work out, I (new nature) do not experientially know, for that which I (new nature) do not desirously will, this I (old nature) practice, but that which I (new nature) am indifferent to, this I (old nature) do.
7:16 But since that which I (new nature) do not desirously will, this I (old nature) do, I (new nature) together say with the law that [the law] is proper.
7.17 But now I (new nature), on my part, no longer work it out for myself, but the dwelling in me sin [nature].
The defense against the sin nature.
Know—You have died with Christ and are raised to walk in newness of life; thereby rendering the sin nature idle in Christ (Romans 6:4–6).
Reckon—Put to your account that you are dead to sin and alive to God (Romans 6:11).
Yield your members to righteousness (Romans 6:13).
We do not have victory over our sin nature through law (Romans 7:9–11).
Join us in person at 811 W. Main Street in Monroe, WA 98272.
If you are unable to join in person, we will have a live broadcast of our main service at 11:00 AM.
And let us consider one another in stirring up love and proper works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves, just as is the habit of some, but encouraging, and so much more as we see the day approaching (Hebrews chapter 10:24–25).
In a world that often pulls us toward isolation, coming together face-to-face provides encouragement, clarity, and spiritual strength. At Word of Grace Studies, we gather because we value the opportunity to build up one another in truth, to stir up love and proper works, and to grow together in the faith. Whether you can come and fellowship with us or at a local assembly in your area, do not forsake the assembling of the saints, your presence matters—for your benefit and for the encouragement of others.
You’re always welcome to join us and experience the encouragement and connection that come from gathering together.
