The Approving of Our Faith

James

The approving of our faith tests it to determine its value, not its failure point. Our approval of faith is more precious than gold (1 Peter 1:7). We are looking for the strong areas and building them up.

We are learning to properly apply our defenses against our enemies.

The Sin Nature – Know (Romans 6:4–6); Reckon (Romans 6:11); Yield (Romans 6:13).

Satan – Put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18).

The World System – Crucified to the world (Galatians 6:14); Not abusing it (1 Corinthians 7:31).

We maintain our daily armor: the breastplate of love and faith, and the helmet of salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:8).

Faith is taking God at His word (Hebrews 11:1). It is always based upon a promise (Romans 8:24). Misapplying promises to other people groups is not faith. Living by law is not faith (Galatians 3:12). The law was a child-training tool to bring the Israelites to faith in Christ (Galatians 3:24).

Approving our faith works out patience (James 1:3). Patience is holding out under circumstances. Patience may be used alongside long-suffering and joy (Colossians 1:11). We are to pursue patience (1 Timothy 6:11). We are to carefully follow the teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, and patience that Paul left as an example for us (2 Timothy 3:10–11). When we desire to live godly, we will face persecution (2 Timothy 3:12).

Patience works out maturity (James 1:4). Maturity (“perfect”) means to bring something to its intended end. When the situation entirely comes together, the result is that we lack nothing.
